Chuck Davis Named Eurocup Week 4 MVP

Chuck DavisA great performance in a come-from-behind win has allowed Chuck Davis of Banvit BK Bandirma to become the Eurocup regular season Week 4 MVP with a performance index ranking of 36 – the highest among all winning players this week. Davis led Banvit to an 88-95 overtime road win at BC Azovmash Mariupol with 22 points by making 5-of-8 two-point shots, 1 of 2 three-pointers and 9 of 10 free throws. He added 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 9 fouls drawn to amass the 36 index. Two players – Nikos Pappas of Panionios BC Athens and Lynn Greer of Azovmash – registered higher index performances this week, but their teams were not able to win their respective games. Pappas shined in Panionios’s 82-73 loss at Unics Kazan with 34 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals and 6 fouls drawn to amass a 44 index – the highest so far this season. Greer had 28 points, 3 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 fouls drawn for a 40 index. Ian Vougioukas of Unics with a 35 index and his teammate Mire Chatman and Brian Asbury of Cajasol Sevilla – each with index ratings of 34 – complete the top individual performances of the week.

Individual highs: Pappas, 34 points, 6 steals

Pappas was this week’s top scorer with 34 points and also collected 6 steals to lead the weekly standings in each. Igor Rakocevic of Crvena Zvezda Diva is the competition’s top scorer with an average of 22 points per game. Rakocevic is a three-time Alphonso Ford Top Scoring trophy winner. Chatman is the Eurocup’s steal leader with 2.75 per night. Artur Drozdov of BC Budivelnik Kiev, Kenan Barjamovic of Banvit and Boni Ndong of Galatasaray Medical Park Istanbul each pulled down 12 rebounds to top the regular season Game 4 charts. Aleks Maric of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar leads all players this season with 8.8 boards per night. Greer was the only player to get double digits in assists by dishing 10 against Banvit. Travis Diener of Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari leads the assists standings with 9.3 per game. Vougioukas had 3 blocks this week, more than any other player. Drew Naymick of CEZ Basketball Nymburk leads the Eurocup standings with 1.75 per game. As many as eight players registered respective double-doubles. Greer was the only one to get it with points and assists with 28 and 10, respectively. Two others are teammates – Barjamovic and Vladimir Stimac of Banvit. Chatman narrowly missed a triple double with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.
