Chace Stanback joins Korihait

Chace StanbackChace Stanback (203 cm, UNLV’12) has been snapped up by Uudenkaupungin Korihait (Finland, Korisliiga) and will play for the club this season. The American swingman played at the Erie Bay Hawks last season and recorded averages of 6.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. After turning pro in 2012 he pre-seasoned with ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne (France, Pro A) where one of the most unusual instances of his young career took place.

NBA superstar and Villeurbanne vice president Tony Parker took a dislike to the addition of Chace Stanback at the French club. Parker criticised Stanback for not having the quality he thought he would and flippantly blamed the scout at the Villeurbanne.

“He is null. He is not the player we had thought. We have a genius as scout. I don’t want to criticize Bob Sudrema when you watch players, there are more that are better than him. Personally I told him: ‘Who is that guy?'” said Parker.
