Brose Bamberg secures long-awaited Euroleague win

Brose BambergAfter weeks of being the nearly-team of the 2016/2017 Euroleague season, Brose Bamberg managed to get a much needed victory. The German champs travelled to one of the most difficult venues in the competition and grabbed a win. Bamberg headed to Tel Aviv and defeated multiple former Euroleague champions Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Indeed, the Germans were hugely impressive and recorded what was ultimately an easy 70-85 road success. This was the sole game of the Euroleague on Wednesday, with the rest of Round 11 of the competition.

After losing five consecutive games, Bamberg was desperately in need of a win. Especially since the German club has actually been in fantastic form. The quality performances paid off here and while Brose is still bottom, the club moves to 3-8. As for Maccabi Tel Aviv, an inconsistent Euroleague campaign continues with the Israeli giant now on 5-6 in 10th place.

Bamberg managed to take the lead early on and shut out the first act with a 16-20 advantage through ten minutes. The guests moved through the gears in the second frame and drained 26 points. At the long break Bamberg was comfortable at 36-40. Tel Aviv bounced back in the third act and took the quarter 22-16 to reduce the deficit to 52-62 through thirty minutes. The guests regained the momentum in the fourth quarter and saw out a comfortable road success.

Nicolo Melli was outstanding in the win and recorded a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds. Darius Miller added 12 points.

Andrew Goudelock stood out for the losing effort with 20 points, while Sonny Weems drained 16 points.
