Schilb to leave Belgrade

Blake SchilbBlake Schilb (201 cm, Loyola Chicago´07) will leave Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade (Serbia, KLS, Adriatic League, and Eurocup). The American is the highest paid player on the Belgrade roster and club president Nebojsa Covic is unhappy with the player’s contribution considering his hefty salary. The swingman played ten Euroleague games this season for Belgrade and secured averages of 12.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in the competition. However, his time with club seems to be over after he only played 3 minutes in the win over Radnicki Kragujevac last weekend and didn´t travel midweek for the Eurocup.

A problem could arise because Blake Schilb is on a two-year contract with an option for a year´s extension so terminating his contract would be costly. Instead Belgrade will attempt to reach an agreement with another club to buyout Schilb´s contract, with France being a mooted destination. The 30-year old has played extensively in France and is well known in the country while he has also played in the Czech Republic.
