B.J. Monteiro signs with Oberwart

B.J. Monteiro (195 cm, Duquesne’12) will be joining the Redwell Gunners Oberwart from Austria’s A Bundesliga this 2013-14 season. Oberwart is currently chugging along in the middle of the pack in the Austrian league with a record of 4-3. Monteiro is an infusion of youth and energy to the squad and hopefully will be useful in taking the team to the next level.

In 2012-13 the 23-year-old Monteiro played his rookie season in Belgium’s Ethias League for Liege Basket. B.J. was able to set averages of 9.1 ppg and 2.9 rpg in 28 games.

In his senior year at Duquesne he averaged 15.0 ppg and 5.4 rpg in 28 games.
