Anadolu Efes solidifies EuroLeague playoff spot with third straight win
Anadolu Efes has cemented its place in the EuroLeague playoff zone, thanks to its third straight win in the competition.
The Turks maintained their momentum in the EuroLeague after dominating Olympiacos at home (76-53).
Efes came back from a 15-point deficit in the first quarter (11-26) to rally past the “Reds”.
A 24-2 run in the second quarter was enough for the hosts to take control and never look back.
Efes outscored Olympiacos 65-27 in the last three quarters to cruise to the win.
This was the third straight win in the EuroLeague for the Turks, who climbed to sixth in the standings (14-10).
On the other hand, Olympiacos lost its fifth straight and dropped to 11-14. Its qualification in the playoffs now is in jeopardy.
FC Barcelona claimed another win this season and remained on top of the EuroLeague.
The Catalans played excellent on both ends and crushed Zalgiris Kaunas at home (86-62).
Barcelona led from start to finish and cruised to an easy win, improving to 18-7 in the EuroLeague.
On the contrary, Zalgiris dropped to 13-11, but stayed close to the playoff zone.
On a historic night for Sergio Rodriguez, Armani Milano decimated Maccabi Tel-Aviv at home (87-68).
Rodriguez scored 10 points and made EuroLeague history, after reaching the 3,000-point scoring club.
Thanks to this win, Armani now is at 16-8, tied with CSKA Moscow for second on the table.
On the other hand, Maccabi has a 10-13 record and its EuroLeague playoff presence is in jeopardy.
Baskonia extended its winning streak in the EuroLeague to three games and remained alive in the playoff race.
The Basques had no problem to defeat Khimki on the road (67-89), playing very well on both ends.
Baskonia now is at 12-13, one win outside the playoff zone in the EuroLeague.
Meanwhile, Khimki lost its 16th straight game and dropped to 2-22.
