Ales Pipan new coach of Macedonia

Ales Pipan is the new head coach of the Macedonian National Team as announced by the Macedonian Basketball Federation. Pipan is currently the head coach of KK MZT Skopje, which is based in the same town (Skopje, Macedonia) as the Federation offices. He’s also Slovenian, which is were Eurobasket 2013 will be held later this year.

The move means that Pipan is also no longer the head coach of the Polish National Team, a position he’s held for two years. It’s been reported that former Russian National Team coach, Dirk Bauermann, will be taking over the Polish squad, but hasn’t been confirmed or announced by the Polish Basketball Federation.

Pipan’s resume as a head coach is very extensive, dating back to 1993 when he took over Slovenian club Satex Maribor. He was the assistant coach for the Slovenian National Team in 1998-2003, then was named head coach of the Slovenian National Team from 2004-2008.
