Aleksandar Todorov resigns from MZT Skopje

Aleksandar TodorovAleksandar Todorov, head coach of MZT Skopje (FYR Macedonia-Prva Liga) for the last 16 months, has announced that effective immediately he has tendered his resignation.

In a statement posted on the Skopje website Todorov stated his reason as being the poor play of the club over the first five games of the season, with their record standing at 2-3. He also took responsibility for the state of the squad since it was his task to select the team over the summer. He thanked the players and the organization in his statement stating that they all helped him make a “dream become reality”.

MZT Skopje Athletic Director George Vojnovic thanked Todorov in the statement, praising him for the high moral qualities it takes to take responsibility for the results and for his loyalty to MZT, putting the club’s best interest in front of his own. He also challenged the MZT players to elevate their game in wake of their coach stepping down, stating that the coach is not solely responsible for the team’s record.

Saso Bosilkov, president of MZT Skopje thanked Todorov and announced that he will remain with the team in the position of sports director. He also announced that the club would name Todorov’s successor within the next 24 hours.’

Speculation is that Boban Mitev will be named his replacement and that Todorov is being considered for the position of head coach for the FYR of Macedonia National Team.
