Aleks Maric waived by Maccabi. Signs with Galatasaray

Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (Israel-Winner League) has waived veteran Australian player Aleks Maric (211 cm, Nebraska’08) and replaced him by Joe Alexander.  The 29-year-old Maric played for Lokomotiv Kuban (Russia-VTB) over the last couple of seasons. In 2013-14 he played 23 games for them during their run in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague and was able to put up averages of 6.1 ppg and 3.7 rpg. Aleks Maric also played 22 games for Lokomotiv in the VTB United league and there he posted averages of 6.7 ppg and 4.0 rpg. He helped his team reach the Russian Cup finals and the VTB United league quarterfinals in 2014. He will be joining Turkish Euroleague team Galatasaray that has had various off-court problems and saw several players leave due to financial disputes.
