Alba Berlin signs Peavy

Nathan Peavy joins Alba

Alba Berlin bolstered its frontcourt for its Turkish Airlines Euroleague return in 2012-13 by inking forward Nathan Peavy to a one-year deal on Friday. Alba keeps an option to extend his contract until the end of the 201-314 season. Peavy (2.03 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Artland Dragons Quakenbrueck, where he has played in the last three seasons. He averaged 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 40 German League games last season, helping Artland to make it to the semifinals. Peavy finished his college career at Miami University, Ohio (NCAA), helping it to win the MAC Tournament in 2007. He joined Paderborn Baskets 91 that summer and played there for one season before moving to Quakenbrueck. Peavy has also played for Vaqueros de Bayamon in his native Puerto Rico, helping it to win the league title in 2009. He has also been a member of the Puerto Rican national team, to which he helped to win the Centrobasket and the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2010. “Nathan Peavy is a fighter and a reliable scorer who has been played a strong role in the German League,” Alba head coach Sasa Obradovic said. “He is also a good outside shooter and in addition, he is still young. I see a lot of potential in him.”
