Alan McAughtry appointed Frankston SEABL head coach

The Frankston Blues of the South East Australian Basketball League have announced that Alan McAughtry has been appointed head coach for the upcoming season.

OFFICIAL RELEASE:

The Frankston & District Basketball Association (FDBA) Board of Management wish to announce the appointment of Alan McAughtry as Frankston Blues SEABL Men’s Head Coach.FRANKSTON BLUES MEDIA RELEASE Alan replaces club legend Bill Runchey who continues in his role as FDBA Head of Basketball Operations.

FDBA & Frankston Blues President Gary Emery thanked Bill for his contribution to the senior men’s program. “Bill Runchey has been synonymous with the Frankston Blues program and his service since commencing with the club in 1986 has been immeasurable. The club plan to recognise Bill in the coming weeks for his efforts to not only our club, but to the SEABL, which honoured Bill with his selection as coach of the SEABL’s 30 Year Anniversary team.”

McAughtry joins the Blues program after a highly successful coaching career which has included being part of the recent World Championship campaign with the U/17 Australian Men’s team which finished 2nd; and spent the last 5 years as Technical Director of Coaching at Diamond Valley Basketball which has seen him part of program that has produced a number of national & state representative players and coaches in recent years.

Alan paid tribute to the legacy left by Bill Runchey in the Senior Blues program. “I feel very honoured to be given the opportunity to take the reins of the Frankston Blues SEABL Men’s Program. It has a proud history and I aim to build on the foundation that has been provided over the last 30 years.”

    Australia has one of the most interesting programs in the world of basketball wide over the country and these guys are part of it.
