Aaron Doornekamp joins Braunschweig

Aaron DoornekampAaron Doornekamp (198 cm, Carleton University’09) will head to Germany to play for the New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig (BBL) this season. The Canadian has been in Italy’s Serie A since turning pro in 2009 but will now play in Germany’s top flight. Last season the forward was not in action due to injury, but during the 2012/2013 season with Otto Caserta (Serie A) he played 31 games and averaged 7.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game.

Aaron Doornekamp has had a brief taste of Euroleague competition after representing JuveCaserta in the qualifying round of Europe’s top league. Phantoms coach Raoul Korner welcomed the player to the team.

“He is a real fighter that does the small things that you don’t see in the stats. He plays for the team and teammates love him while opponents don’t”.
