7DAYS EuroCup Top 16

Round 2 of the 7DAYS EuroCup Top 16 wrapped on Tuesday and brought as a step closer to deciding the four groups. There are still four teams unbeaten in the Top 16, with Darussafaka Istanbul, Zenit St. Petersburg, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, and Unics Kazan all picking up wins to stay at 100% in the 7DAYS EuroCup Top 16.

Group A

Darussafaka Istanbul faced a tough challenge at home as Gran Canaria came to town. However, the Turkish team sent a message through the 7DAYS EuroCup Top 16 with a resounding 88-70 win. The victory leaves Darussafaka with 100% in the Top 16 at 2-0, while Gran Canaria drops to 1-1 but will fight on. In the other Group E game, ALBA Berlin showed its ability to defeat any club with a 95-62 demolition over Galatasaray. This win was ALBA’s first of this round at 1-1, while the Turkish club is now potless at the foot of the standings (0-2).

Group F

A strong offensive display allowed Zenit St. Petersburg to pass Fiat Turin 95-84, thanks to a pulsating second half. The Russian club looked excellent once again and now sits pretty at the top of Group B with a 2-0 record. As for Turin, the club will be back next week and remains in second place on 1-1. Elsewhere, Bayern Munich bounced back from defeat last week to down Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius 81-68, in what was a cruising home win. This result pushed the Bavarian club to 1-1, which the Lithuanian team from Vilnius dropped to 0-2.

Group G

Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar continued its blistering form this season with a 97-69 demolition of Dolomiti Energia Trento. The success keeps Lokomotiv unbeaten this 7DAYS EuroCup season and the club is surely the title favourite with a 2-0 record. Trento falls to 1-1 in third place on the loss. Buducnost VOLI Podgorica joined Trento in the chasing pack courtesy of a 75-78 road win over Cedevita Zagreb. Buducnost moves to 1-1, while Cedevita is winless in the Top 16.

Group H

Group H tipped off for round 2 on Tuesday with Unics Kazan taking out Limoges on the road. Thanks to a 66-69 road success, Unics Kazan has gotten off to a hot start and sits unbeaten at the top of the Group H standings. As for Limoges, the French team is without a win in the Top 16, but still has time to turn its fortunes around.
