11 BC Lietkabelis members test positive for COVID-19

BC Lietkabelis’ EuroCup contest against Virtus Bologna will be played at a later date after 11 players and staff from the Lithuanian Basketball League team tested positive for COVID-19.

The match was scheduled for Wednesday.

Initially, two Lietkabelis players had positive tests for the virus on Friday, according to published reports. Since then, three staff members and six more players tested positive for CVID-19.

Thus, the EuroCup match was postponed.

Serbian Nenad Čanak, 44, is the BC Lietkabelis head coach. He is in his third season at the helm.

In March, the Lithuanian Basketball League’s 2019-20 season ended early due to the global pandemic. Žalgiris Kaunas was declared the champion, with Lietkabelis finishing third overall.
