For the first time since the Nike Hoop Summit started in 1995, the World Team has recorded two consecutive victories over Team USA. World Team beat Team USA 112-98 this year and also managed a 84-75 win in 2012.

The Nike Hoop Summit is an annual basketball game between a USA Basketball Men’s Junior Select Team and a World Select Team of international players. The event has featured some of the NBA’s current stars who include: Nicolas Batum, Kevin Durant, Monta Ellis, Kyrie Irving, Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, Dirk Nowitzki, and Tony Parker among many others. Top 3 picks of the 2012 NBA draft, Anthony Davis (1st), Michael-Kidd Gildchrist (2nd), and Bradley Beal (3rd) were all former U.S. Nike Summit Hoop players.

The World Team took control of the game via their excellent offense and their rebounding dominance. They were led by the 27-point, 13-rebound effort of France’s Livio Jean-Charles. German point guard, Dennis Schroder also lived up to expectations with his 18-point, 6-assist performance. Australia’s Dante Exum and Canada’s Dante Wiggins also chipped in valuable contributions, scoring 16 and 17 points respectively.

USA Head Coach Mike Jones had this to say in complimenting the World team on their win.

“We want to give the World Team all the credit. They played a very good game, and are one of the most talented, if not the most talented, World Teams that we’ve had at the Hoop Summit. They played good pretty much start to finish.”

Jabari Parker stepped up as the go-to player for USA and finished the game with 22 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Julius Randle had 19 points and eight rebounds, while Andrew Harrison had 19 points and five assists.
