Yesterday’s game between two of Europe’s top-teams, UNICS Kazan and CSKA Moscow, was one for the ages and had three overtimes.
CSKA Moscow went to one of the key games of the entire season without a number of key players, and also without coach Dimitris Itoudis. He has missed several recent games due to illness.
UNICS managed to take advantage of CSKA’s problems and ended the first quarter with a double-digit lead – 26:13.
UNICS Kazan even extended their lead to 17 points in the second quarter and seemed to be in total control of the game. However, CSKA Moscow fought back and only trailed by one point at halftime (41-42).
From that moment on, it was a very close game. In the end, UNICS Kazan needed three overtimes to win (105-103).
The hero of the night was O.J. Mayo who hit the winning buzzer beater.
