A family member has confirmed that former Sacramento Kings player, Tyler Honeycutt (203 cm, UCLA’11) died on Saturday. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call from Honeycutt’s mother that he had been acting oddly on Friday night. When the police arrived on the scene, the 27-year-old UCLA product fired at them. The police returned fire but Honeycutt barricaded himself in a residence.
A S.W.A.T. team was called in to handle the matter. When they breached his barricade at 3:30 in the morning, they found the Ex-NBA player dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Honeycutt last played professional basketball in 2017-18, where he suited up for B.C. Khimki Moscow Region (Russia-VTB). He played 16 games in the VTB League and averaged 10.3 ppg and 6.4 rpg. Honeycutt also played 17 games in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague where he posted averages of 9.2 ppg and 5.4 rpg.
