Trump Asks Xi Jinping to Help Resolve UCLA Issue

Trump The case of three UCLA freshmen being charged with shoplifting in China is now a political matter at the highest level. No less than U.S. President Donald Trump has personally asked Chinese leader Xi Jinping to help resolve the matter. Trump made the request during a two-day visit to Beijing, just before flying to Vietnam, then the Philippines to attend the ASEAN summit, held in Manila.

The three UCLA players who are currently under “house arrest” in a hotel in Hangzhou are LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley, and Jalen Hill.

Xi has agreed to look into the case and said that he will ensure that the players are treated fairly and expeditiously.

If found guilty, the trio could face anywhere from 3-10 years in prison. The latest update is that the charges have been reduced and so far the players have been cooperating with officials.
