Greatest Trios in NBA History: Number 6

Miami Heat; James, Wade, and Bosh (2012 & 2013 NBA Champions)

In the summer of 2010, LeBron James and Chris Bosh infamously joined forces with Dwyane Wade in Miami. Many members of the media, and a slew of former players, criticized the move as taking the easy way out to win a championship. However, the team’s loss in the 2011 NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks proved that winning a championship is difficult, no matter how talented the roster is.

However, in 2012, the Heat finally hit their stride. The team overcame a 3-2 deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals, winning a gutsy Game 6 on the road against the Boston Celtics before returning home to close out the series in seven games. They overcame Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games in the NBA Finals to give James, Wade, and Bosh their first championship together.

The next season, the team lived up to its name, getting hot enough to go on a 27-game-win-streak during the regular season. In the NBA Finals, the team enlisted the talents of legendary sharpshooter Ray Allen, who hit a heroic three-pointer to send Game 6 to overtime. After winning that classic game in overtime, the Heat finally overcame the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7. Although the team had been finally criticized upon their formation, it’s hard to argue against success. It’s hard to win a back-to-back title in the NBA; the trio of James, Wade, and Bosh pulled off this incredibly difficult feat.
