Syracuse self-imposes postseason ban

The Syracuse Orange will not be participating in the NCAA postseason after the school self-imposed a postseason ban this year. This is in response to an ongoing investigation being conducted by the NCAA into possible past infractions by the team. The ban includes the NCAA tournament, ACC tournament and NIT.

“I am very disappointed that our basketball team will miss the opportunity to play in the postseason this year,” coach Jim Boeheim said in a news release. “However, I supported this decision and I believe the University is doing the right thing by acknowledging that past mistakes occurred.”

The investigation pertains to academics. Syracuse self-reported potential athletic department violations in 2007.
