Southern Illinois stranded for over 5 hours in snow

The Southern Illinois men’s basketball team was not spared by bad weather as the Eastern United States deals with winter snow storms. The team’s bus (photo) was stranded for five and a half hours in a ditch after the driver pulled over on Interstate 57 due to poor visibility brought about by the snow. The Salukis were on their way home, coming from an away game where they lost to the Illinois State Redbirds, 48-66.

The team’s head coach, Barry Hinson and assistants Terrance McGee and Tom Hankins were not with the team as they were recruiting after the game. Some players went on social media and tweeted their situation to their followers, keeping them updated of their situation. A tow truck got to the bus after five and a half hours and pulled it back onto the Interstate.
