Sergio Rodriguez named Euroleague MVP

Sergio Rodriguez

Real Madrid (Spain-Liga Endesa) has had a truly strong season so far. The hands-down favorites to win this year’s Turkish Airlines Euroleague competition made a solid case for their cause thanks to an impressive regular season run. A key cog in the machine that is their exciting fast-paced offense has former NBA guard Sergio Rodriguez (191 cm).

Rodriguez, who has averaged 13.5 ppg and 4.9 apg in 29 games so far in the Euroleague, has played a critical role off Real Madrid’s bench. His stellar season and undeniable impact on the team’s ability to sustain their high-octane, attacking offense has earned him the distinction of being named the 2013-14 Euroleague Most Valuable Player. This is only the second time that the award has been given to a sixth man. Theo Papaloukas (CSKA Moscow) won the award in 2007.
