Sacramento Kings vs. Phoenix Suns – Regular Season Stats & Betting Trends

Can The Kings Overcome Their Recent Struggles?

Phoenix Suns Season Stats:

  • Scoring Offense: 118.6 PPG – 8TH
  • Offensive Efficiency: 117.4 points per 100 possessions – 14TH
  • Scoring Defense: 118.1 PPG – 22ND
  • Defensive Efficiency: 116.9 points per 100 possessions – 17TH

Following a stretch in which they won six times in seven outings, the Sacramento Kings have dropped three of their last four decisions. This includes a 127-113 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.

Malik Monk paced Sacramento with 26 points, five assists, and four rebounds.

Domantas Sabonis scored 21 points to go along with 14 assists and 11 rebounds. De’Aaron Fox finished with 15 points and five assists but converted just six of his 17 shot attempts.

Additionally, the Kings could not contain Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or Jalen Williams as the pair torched Sacramento’s defense for 38 and 32 points, respectively. They were the main cogs for an offense that shot 54 percent from the field and 48 percent from beyond the arc.

“SGA (Gilgeous-Alexander) played like an MVP candidate,” Kings coach Mike Brown said, via ESPN. “We threw the kitchen sink at him, and he still scored 38. And then Jalen Williams was really, really big. And I say he’s big because he had 32 but he was extremely efficient throughout the course of the night.”

These teams have faced each other three times this season, with Sacramento taking two of those games. Given that fact, the Kings will be looking to capture the season series with a win on Tuesday night.

Can The Suns Hand Their Division Rivals Their Fourth Loss In Five Games?

Phoenix Suns Season Stats:

  • Scoring Offense: 117.4 PPG – 12TH
  • Offensive Efficiency: 118.8 points per 100 possessions – 11TH
  • Scoring Defense: 114.4 PPG – 15TH
  • Defensive Efficiency: 115.6 points per 100 possessions – 16TH

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns currently hold the No. 6 spot in the conference playoff race. They have posted six wins over their last 10 outings. However, their recent three-game winning streak was snapped with a 113-112 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night.

Devin Booker set the tone for the Suns’ offense as he finished with 32 points, six assists and four rebounds.

Kevin Durant turned in a solid performance with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. The Suns led by two points in the game’s final seconds. Bradley Beal went for the steal on the inbounds pass, which left Stephen Curry wide open for one of his trademark three-point shots.

The Suns failed to get off a shot on their final possession, enabling the home team to escape with a one-point victory.

“We just weren’t at our best,” Suns coach Frank Vogel said after the game. “We played a pretty good basketball game, played well enough to beat these guys. One play in the final two seconds swings the outcome.”

The Kings have taken two of the three previous meetings between the teams and Phoenix is hoping to bounce back from their recent loss to even the season series against its division rivals.

Now that we have set the table for this matchup, let us look at the betting trends for both sides.

The Picks

The Spread

The Suns opened as a consensus four-point favorite. At the time of this writing, the line has climbed to five points for the home team (per pre-game.com). Here is a look at how both teams have fared against the spread this season.

  • The Kings are 5-0 ATS in their last five matchups against Phoenix.
  • Sacramento is 2-4 ATS in its last six road contests.
  • In their last eight road games against the Suns, the Kings are 7-1 against the spread.
  • The Suns are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
  • Phoenix is 1-5 ATS in its last six matchups against Pacific Division opponents.

Given the above trends, going with the road team to cover is the best play here.

Prediction: Sacramento Kings (+5)

Over/Under

The projected over/under total for this matchup opened at 242 points. The line has recently climbed to 245 points. Here is why going with the “under” is the smart choice.

  • The total has gone UNDER four times in the Kings’ last five games against Pacific Division teams.
  • The UNDER total cashed in 10 times in the Suns’ last 14 games.
  • In Phoenix’s last 15 contests against Sacramento, the UNDER total hit 10 times.
  • The total has gone UNDER four times in the Suns’ last six February games.
  • In Phoenix’s last five Tuesday night games, the total has gone UNDER four times.

Prediction: UNDER 245 points
