Rytas bags key win over Loko in 7Days EuroCup

EuroCup

There were five games on tap on Tuesday night in Round 6 of the 7Days EuroCup. The night was characterized by comeback wins and stunning success on the road.

One of the most important games was between Rytas Vilnius and Lokomotiv Kuban. The end result saw Rytas prevailing 82-87 on the road in Russia. This was their second win in the EuroCup, providing them with some much-needed momentum. The win ties them with Lokomotiv Kuban at 2-4, but thanks to tiebreakers, Rytas now slides into that highly-coveted fourth place in the Group B standings. Only the top-4 teams from each group will move on to the next stage, making this win quite crucial.

Evaldas Kairys recorded a career-high 16 points with six rebounds thanks to his perfect 8-of-8 shooting from the field.

Bench scoring was a big factor in Rytas’ win. Their reserves outscored Loko’s bench players 34-25.

Former NBA big man Alan Williams of Loko was slowed by foul trouble, limiting his impact in the game. He could have made a dent in the two-rebound gap between the two teams if managed to stay on the floor longer. Not even Dimitri Kulagin’s game-high 18 points and six assists were not enough to power his team to victory.

MoraBanc Andorra secured their third win of the season, tying things up with AS Monaco with both teams now at 3-3. This comes after a dominant performance at home 95-68. Andorra and Monaco now sit in third and fourth places

This was one of the more impressive wins of the night. Monaco got off to a hot start and secured a 19-25 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, the second half was all Andorra all the way and the team turned up the heat to slam snowball their efforts into a convincing win.

Clevin Hannah and Jeremy Senglin scored 16 points each for Andorra to pace the team for the win. Eric Buckner led Monaco with 16 points of his own.

These were just two games from Round 6 of Tuesday’s action in the 7Days EuroCup, expect more exciting hoops action to come tonight as the remaining teams take to the hardwood this evening.
