Just two days after Bayern Munchen qualified for the Euroleague final four, they were beaten in the German Bundesliga by relegation candidate Giessen 94-95.
Maybe the Bayern players were tired after their Euroleague adventures, or maybe they underestimated the opponent? Maybe it was a combination of both, plus the fact that they had to do without head coach Andrea Trinchieri plus players Vladimir Lucic, Nick Weiler-Babb, and Wade Baldwin.
For Giessen, this was the first wine after five consecutive losses. They are now tied in the last place of the Bundesliga with a 4-21 record. Bayern on the other hand dropped to third place with a 21-5 record.
Giessen’s Jonathan Stark was the man of the match with 25 points as his team outrebounded Bayern 34-21.
