The Brazilian National Basketball Federation (CBB) and the FIBA Regional Office of Americas have decided to change one of the hosting cities for the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 in Brazil. Initially set to be played in two cities, Brasilia and Recife, the event now moves solely to the city of Recife, which will host all three groups and games.
The change comes as a solution to better fit the logistics of such competition and maximize the event’s technical requirements. Group C, scheduled to be played in Brasilia, will now be hosted in Recife with Groups A and B. All games will be played at Ginásio de Esportes Geraldo Magalhães.
Recife is one of Brazil’s most exotic and charming cities in the country, best known for its beaches and historic sites. The FIBA AmeriCup 2022 returns to Brazil for the first time since 1984 when it was held in Sao Paulo.
