Real Madrid Surges to 2-1 Lead over FC Barcelona
The ongoing “El Clasico” series in the Spanish Liga Endesa Finals between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona Lassa has taken another turn. After losing Game 1 to Barca, Real Madrid has now built some serious momentum, winning two straight games in convincing fashion, putting on some serious pressure on their rivals. Game 3 was smooth sailing for Real Madrid as they handily maintained full control of the game en route to their eventual 91-74 victory. Game 4 is scheduled on the 22nd and FC Barcelona will have the tall task of tying up this series in a must-win scenario.
Real Madrid was at home and dangerous, as usual. They proved to be the more aggressive squad and climbed to a 29-21 lead at the end of the first quarter. From there, they did not look back as they built on their lead, expanding on their advantage with each passing frame. Barcelona managed to win the fourth quarter, but scoring was minimal as the game was already out of reach and there was not enough of a rally to cover Real Madrid’s lead.
All-Star guard Sergio Llull went bonkers for Real Madrid in this one, scoring a game-high 21 points and handing out seven assists. Rudy Fernandez was healthy and got the hot hand, adding 18 points of his own. Rudy was a perfect 6-of-6 from the line, punishing Barcelona’s fouls on him with easy buckets.
Barcelona’s dynamic forward Ante Tomic led the team with his 18 points, five rebounds and four assists; but it was unfortunately not enough to keep up with his host’s frenetic pace. He was efficient when scoring in the paint, but only managed to make four of his eight shot attempts from the free-throw line.
