Yesterday, Partizan and Crvena Zvezda, the number one and two in the ABA (Adriatic League) standings, met in the Serbian capital Belgrade. Supported by a loud home crowd and the guidance of legendary coach Zeljko Obradovic, Partizan won the game by 98-84.
Thereby Partizan ended the four-game losing streak against Crvena Zvezda in the ABA League.
Hero of the night was Partizan guard Aleksa Avramović who scored 33 points, including eight three-pointers, to lead the black-and-whites toward victory.
Crvena Zvezda is definitely disappointed with this outcome. Nevertheless, they reduced the gap to 14 points and secured themselves a better season head-to-head score against Partizan. Remember that Crvena Zvezda triumphed in the 1st derby of the season by 15 points – 71:56.
Key moments: Partizan only had a 1-point lead ahead of the 4th period – 64:63, while then the black-and-whites played one of their best quarters of the season. Aleksa Avramović was unstoppable in those moments, and his 3-pointers helped Partizan gain a double-digit lead in key moments. Partizan scored no less than 34 points in the final 10 minutes, and they did it against one of the best defensive teams in Europe.
Man of the match: This was not just the best performance of Aleksa Avramović in this season, but it is also one of the best 2nd half performances ever seen in the regional league. Avramović scored 31 out of his 33 points in the 2nd half! That is just unbelievable.
Can’t trick the stats: If you look at the stats, you can’t miss his name. Aleksa Avramović scored 33 points, eight three-pointers, made six assists, and his overall index rating was 32. He is the player who made the difference tonight.
