Paul George Tows Clippers to Morale-Boosting Win

Behind another tremendous scoring display from star forward Paul George, the Los Angeles Clippers carved a 114-101 victory over cross-town rivals Los Angeles Lakers. George put up 29 points on an efficient 10-of-17 shooting, and also added six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks to his tally. But the win was not solely credited to George, as the Clippers saw seven of their players score double digits in the win.

After netting a close-call win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in their previous assignment, the Clippers were again on a mission right out of the gates. They established a 38-21 advantage at the end of the first quarter and held off any Laker comebacks from that point. Norman Powell chipped in 18 markers off the bench, with Reggie Jackson (14), Luke Kennard (13), Marcus Morris Sr. (11), Ivica Zubac (10), and John Wall (10) also scoring in double digits.

LeBron James paced the Lakers with his 30 markers but exited the game early due to an apparent leg injury. Anthony Davis tallied 21 points as the Lakers fell to their 9th loss in 11 games.

Jazz Wins 4th Straight

There’s no stopping the freight train that is the Utah Jazz. Behind a 32-point outing from Lauri Markkanen, the Jazz defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 125-119. Along with Markkanen’s brilliance on offense, Utah also benefited from Jordan Clarkson’s 23-point night. Malik Beasley was also instrumental, coming off the bench to fire six treys on his way to 18 markers.

It’s Utah’s fourth straight win, bumping their record to a 10-3 slate to remain at the top of the Western Conference standings. The streaking Jazz squad will face the Washington Wizards and the Philadelphia 76ers to complete their current three-game road trip.
