Jayson Tatum Pours In 43

Behind another masterpiece from Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics escaped the Detroit Pistons, 117-108. Tatum didn’t just score a lot but he also did his damage in a very efficient way. The Celtics’ superstar forward tallied 43 points on 50% shooting, including a stellar 7-of-14 clip from the three-point line. He also pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out three assists, helping the Celtics notch their 10th win in 13 games. They are now tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

Four of the Celtics’ starters also scored in double digits, with Grant Williams and Marcus Smart chipping in 19 and 18 markers, respectively. Led by Tatum’s brilliance, the Celtics managed to hold the fort even without Jaylen Brown, who sat out due to a left knee contusion. This is definitely another morale-boosting victory for the Celtics, as they try to get back to the big stage after losing to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals.

Bojan Bogdanovic and Jaden Ivey led the Pistons on offense, but their combined output of 54 points was not enough to tow the team to the win.

Wizards Notch Third-Straight Win

Even without star Bradley Beal’s services, the streaking Washington Wizards still managed to hack out a 121-112 win over the Utah Jazz. Veteran big man Kristaps Porzingis drilled four treys on his way to a double-double night of 31 points and 10 rebounds, while Kyle Kuzma contributed 23 to help the Wizards notch their third win in a row.

Jordan Clarkson put up 18 markers for the Jazz, while Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton chipped in 17 apiece. The loss snaps Utah’s four-game winning streak, but they’re still slotted at the top of the West with a 10-4 record.
