Alba Berlin announces Peavy injured, out several months

Nathan PeavyAlba Berlin (Germany-BBL & Euroleague) announced on their website today that power forward Nathan Peavy (2.03m, college: Miami-Ohio) was injured in a fall during the last minutes of their pre-season contest with Varese on Sunday and will most likely miss most, if not all, of the season.

Peavy tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee and fractured his right femur. Alba Berlin’s Sport Director Mithat Demirel has stated Peavy was in good hands at the Berlin Trauma Centre and he is getting the best treatment they he can. “This news hits Nathan and us very hard shortly before the start of the season,” Demirel said. “He was a central player to our concept this season.” Peavy was slated for his debut in the Euroleague on Oct. 10th.

They also have to now deal with losing a key player in their line-up and they are assuming that the severity of the injury will keep him off the court for the entire season. That being the case, they also feel that they’ll look to seek compensation for their loss.

What a disaster to a player and club. Wish his money are secure at least. If he had this type of injury at this stage of season in Romania or Poland they will send him home immediately without compensation. ))))))
