Michael Wright

Former University of Arizona forward, Michael Wright (203 cm) was found dead in the back of his SUV in Brooklyn, New York. Wright was a 35-year-old American player who also had a Turkish passport. His name in the Turkish media was “Ali Karadeniz”. He was drafted by the New York Knicks in 2001, but did not make their final roster that season. Michael decided to take his game overseas and saw action in several countries in Europe. Wright spent eight seasons of his professional career playing in Turkey. He was found at around 11 A.M., he had suffered a fractured skull and his body was covered by black garbage bags. Police are investigating the possibility that Michael may have met foul play at the hands of someone he met through a gay dating app, Grinder.

Wright recently returned to the United States after a two-game stint Petrochimi Bandar Imam Harbour (Iran-Superleague). In January 2015, Wright signed with Cholet Basket (France-Pro A) and played three games for them, before leaving that same month.
