LPB starts in Portugal

The LPB in Portugal got underway on Saturday evening with six games scheduled, with all twelve clubs taking to the hardwood around the country over the weekend. The 2014/2015 season should be another round of tight Basketball action in the LPB, while reigning champions Benfica will be the team to beat once again.  The champs have of course won five out of six last editions of the LPB. While Benfica fight in the Eurochallenge, the rest of the teams will see which is in the best position to dethrone the powerhouse. The pick of Round one’s games saw the unthinkable happen; Benfica losing the very first game of the season (78-86) to outsider Galitos Barreiro Tley! The 2014/2015 season is only the third time that Galitos Barreiro Tley plays at the highest level of competition in Portugal. They ended 10th the previous season and 11th before that. Less than a week ago Benfica and Galitos Barreiro Tley met each other in the Portuguese Supercup, but that time favorite Benfic won 82-63.
