Le Mans upsets Levallois at JEEP Elite Pro A

Pro A

Things got extra exciting on Tuesday night in France’s JEEP Elite Pro A league. The second-ranked Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans suffered their second loss of the season at the hands of a 12th-ranked Le Mans Sarthe Basket (4-8), 104-83.

Levallois is still in good shape but are now two games behind league-leading ASVEL, who are still perfect with an 11-0 record. ASVEL visits Nanterre tonight for their Round 12 game.

Le Mans improves to 4-8 but still have a ways to go before they find their way into striking distance of the Pro A top-8. Their victory was eye-opening not just because it was a stunning upset over a top team, but also because it was a dominant blow out.

It was just one of those games where Le Mans’ offense clicked. They stayed aggressive and found means to get the rock in the rim with 27-of-38 shooting from 2-point range. They also found their mark from distance, knocking down 11-of-20 shots from 3-point range.

Everyone was involved in the action and six Le Mans players scored in double figures, led by the team-high 32 points from Brandon Taylor, who made 4-of-5 shots from downtown. They outgunned and outplayed Levallois and to a resoundingly impressive level. The pace was crazy and it played right into what Le Mans wanted as far as controlling the game was concerned.

On Levallois’ side, Vitalis Chikoko did his best to carry his team with 22 points (10-of-13 shooting) and six rebounds.

This is a reminder that no matter how strong a team is, it cannot rest on its laurels, especially not in France’s JEEP Elite Pro A.
