There’s no stopping the freight train that is Joel Embiid tonight. In the Philadelphia 76ers’ 105-98 victory over the Utah Jazz, Embiid poured in a career-best 59 points, helping Philly even their record to seven wins and seven defeats. On top of his tremendous scoring display, the All-Star big man also stuffed the stat sheet with 11 rebounds, eight assists, and seven blocks. Without his co-star James Harden on the floor tonight, Embiid almost single-handedly lifted the Sixers to the win.

It’s this type of all-around performance that makes Joel Embiid a very special talent. He makes the case for being the best two-way big man in the league, and he has proven time and again that he can impact the game on both ends of the floor. Coming off a productive year that saw him average 30 points per game, Embiid is now putting up a stat line of 29.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks. The only downside of his current performance is the lowly 24.2% three-point shooting clip, but Embiid is still averaging a decent 51.4% overall clip from the field.

The win against the Jazz is the Sixers’ second victory in a row. Rising star Tyrese Maxey was the only other Philly player who put up double digits in the scoring column, as he tallied 18 markers. The Sixers only hit four of their 23 attempts from three-point land, but it’s they’re fortunate that Embiid got it going tonight. Philly will be relying even more on Embiid in the foreseeable future, especially with Harden sitting out for at least a month due to a foot injury.
