Jerome Kersey

The NBA and the world has lost a great man and a great player in Jerome Kersey (201 cm, Longwood’84), who passed away at the age of 52. Kersey was selected 46th by the Portland Trail Blazers in 1984 NBA Draft. He spent 11 seasons with the Blazers where he averaged 12.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg. He blossomed into an excellent all-around player who could be counted on as a scorer, defender, and capable passer. The highlight of his career was in the 1987-88 season as he averaged 19.2 ppg and 8.3 rpg.

“Today we lost an incredible person and one of the most beloved players to ever wear a Trail Blazers uniform,” said Trail Blazers Owner Paul Allen. “My thoughts and condolences are with the Kersey family. He will be missed by all of us. It’s a terrible loss.”
