Jason Kapono moves from NBA to Panathinaikos

Jason KaponoJason Kapono (201 cm, UCLA’03) has come to terms with Panathinaikos (Greece-A1) for the remainder of the 2012-13 season. An official announcement on Panathinaikos’ website says that Kapono will arrive in Athens on Sunday. Kapono was a four-year starter at UCLA, where he had a career scoring average of 16.5 points per game. That number comes from 127 games and 2,095 career points, which ranks him at the top of the Pac-10 Conference career points list. During his collegiate career he also ranked first in the Pac-10 in 3-point field goals as a freshman (’00) and sophomore (’01); 3-point field goal percentage as a sophomore (’01) and junior (’02). He’s also ninth on the NCAA’s career 3-point field goal percentage. After graduating from UCLA he was drafted in the second round of the 2003 NBA draft (31st overall) by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Prior to signing with Panathinaikos he spent the last nine seasons in the NBA, playing for Cleveland, Charlotte, Miami, Toronto, Philadelphia and the Los Angeles Lakers. During his career he averaged 6.7 points per game with a high of 10.9ppg in 2006-07 with Miami. Kapono’s career earnings are estimated to have been $28,493,023, with his best year coming in 2010-11 with the 76ers when his contract called for $6,641,440 on the season.

    Panathinaikos has won 32 Greek Basket League championships, 13 Greek Cups, 6 Euroleague championships, 1 Intercontinental Cup, and 2 Triple Crowns. BEST TEAM IN EUROPE WITH BEST BASKETBALL FANS IN THE WORLD…!

    He is motivated at all.
