Golden State Warriors vs. Philadelphia 76ers Odds – Regular Season Stats & Betting Trends

Can The Struggling Warriors Notch Their Fourth Win In Five Games?

Golden State Warriors Season Stats:

  • Scoring Offense: 118.8 PPG – 7TH
  • Offensive Efficiency: 119.8 points per 100 possessions – 6TH
  • Scoring Defense: 113.4 PPG – 14TH
  • Defensive Efficiency: 114.4 points per 100 possessions – 11TH

The Golden State Warriors occupy the No. 11 spot in the conference playoff race. This means that if the season ended today, they would not qualify for the play-in tournament. This is quite a surprise considering this team is just two years removed from hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy.

The Warriors are 5-5 across their last 10 outings. This includes a 109-98 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night. Stephen Curry led the team in scoring with 29 points on 12-for-24 shooting from the field. He also tallied five rebounds and three assists.

Jonathan Kuminga turned in a solid performance as he finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, while Brandin Podzienski contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds. While the Warriors did shoot a respectable 46.2 percent from the field, they converted just four of their 22 attempts from beyond the arc.

“It was ugly on both sides, but I think everybody was trying to execute and trying to settle into the style of the game, and then thankfully in the second half, we made the right adjustments and took control and never looked back,” Curry said after the game.

While the team is three games below .500, a win against Philadelphia would be the team’s fourth win in five tries. And given the Sixers will be without Joel Embiid for at least the next several weeks, the Warriors have at an outside chance of winning this game.

Can The Sixers Figure It Out?

Philadelphia 76ers Season Stats:

  • Scoring Offense: 118.7 PPG – 8TH
  • Offensive Efficiency: 118.8 points per 100 possessions – 9TH
  • Scoring Defense: 114.6 PPG – 15TH
  • Defensive Efficiency: 116.0 points per 100 possessions – 16TH

Meanwhile, the Sixers have fallen to the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference as they have dropped six of their last seven contests. They also enter this tilt against the Warriors amid a two-game losing skid.

This includes a 118-102 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night. Kelly Oubre Jr. scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Tobias Harris added 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the floor. He also had six rebounds and six assists. Tyrese Maxey contributed 15 points and seven assists. Philadelphia shot just 43 percent from the field (40-for-93) and 8-for-29 from 3-point range (27.6 percent).

“I think when you lose a guy from the lineup like Joel, outside of the scoring, the defense and just physical presence is just out there on the floor and we’re missing that heavily,” Tobias Harris said, via CBS Sports.

“But we have to figure out a way to kind of bring that in different elements of the game. Whether that’s us using our speed, us using our quickness on the offensive end and just make decisions, get down the hill, or using our craftiness defensively in these games.

“We gotta figure it out.”

It will be interesting to see if Philadelphia can remain in contention for a playoff berth without its MVP center in the lineup.

Now that we have set the table for this East vs. West matchup, let us look at the betting trends for both sides.

The Picks

The Spread

The Warriors opened as a 1.5-point underdog. The line has recently changed to them being a two-point favorite (per pre-game.com). Here is a look at how both teams have fared against the spread this season.

  • The Warriors are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
  • Golden State is 6-3 ATS in their last nine matchups against Philadelphia.
  • In their last 16 road contests against the Sixers, the Warriors are just 3-13 against the spread.
  • Golden State has covered the spread five times in their last six games against Eastern Conference opponents.
  • The Sixers are 1-4 ATS in their last five contests.
  • Philadelphia is 5-1 ATS in the last six outings in which they have played at home on a Wednesday.

Although Golden State has struggled this season, look for the road team to cover the small spread in this one.

Prediction: Golden State Warriors (-2)

Over/Under

The projected over/under total for this matchup opened at 236.5 points. At the time of this writing, the line has not moved. Here is why going with the “over” is the smart choice.

  • The total has gone OVER 11 times in the Warriors’ last 16 games.
  • In the Sixers’ last 12 games, the OVER total won eight times.
  • The OVER total has prevailed four times in Philadelphia’s last five home games.

Prediction: OVER 236.5 points

Player Prop Bets

One of the key players to watch for the road team is Stephen Curry. He currently has -130 odds of scoring more than 28.5 points and +100 odds of finishing with less than 28.5 points.

Here is a glance to see how his numbers compare to the projected points total for this matchup.

  • On the season, Curry is averaging 28.6 points per outing.
  • In 20 road contests this season, he is averaging 27.6 PPG.
  • Curry has played against Eastern Conference opponents 15 times this season. In those contests, he is averaging 30.3 points per outing.
  • In five matchups against Atlantic Division opponents, Curry is averaging 29 points per game.
  • Over his last 10 outings, Curry is averaging 31.8 PPG, while exceeding the points total for this matchup five times during that stretch.

Going with the “over” for Curry is the smart choice based on the above trends.

Prediction: Stephen Curry OVER 28.5 points

The key player to watch for the home team is Tyrese Maxey, who is the second-leading scorer on the roster behind Embiid. He currently has -110 odds of scoring more than 28.5 points and -120 odds of finishing with less than 28.5 points.

Let us take a closer look to see how Maxey’s numbers stack up against the projected points total for this matchup.

  • On the season, Maxey is averaging 25.9 points per outing.
  • In 25 home contests, he is averaging 25.7 PPG.
  • Maxey has played against Western Conference opponents 15 times this season. In those contests, he is averaging 27.7 points per outing.
  • In nine Wednesday night matchups this season, Maxey is averaging 24.7 points per game.
  • Over his last 10 outings, Maxey has averaged 25 PPG, exceeding the points total for this matchup two times during that stretch.

Prediction: Tyrese Maxey UNDER 28.5 points
