Giorgi Shermadini released by Maccabi

Giorgi Shermadini (216 cm) has been released by Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel-Winner League) where he averaged 4.8 points per game in nine Euroleague contests and 7.5 points per game in the Israel Winner League. Last season Shermadini suited up for Bennet Cantu (Italy-SerieA), averaging 9.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 22 SerieA games and 10.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game over 16 Euroleague games. He’s been on the Georgian U16 and U20 National Teams and was a participant in the 2012 Italian SerieA All-Start Game. It’s being reported that Shermadini will be signing with Olympiacos (Greece-A1) shortly.

UPDATE: As anticipated, Olympiacos has announced on their website that they had signed Shermadini through the rest of the season.
