Fenerbahce vs. Anadolu Efes postponed due to COVID-19

The game between Fenerbahce Beko and Anadolu Efes in the Turkish ING Basketball Super Lig was postponed due to COVID-19, the Turkish Basketball Federation announced on Friday.

The federation said that the matchday 29 game, scheduled to be played today, will not be played over coronavirus cases in the Fenerbahce Beko squad.

With Fenerbahce confirming new cases, the number of infections in the team rose to seven.

It is a great disappointment for all basketball fans since this was a much-anticipated game between the number one and the number two of the Turkish league. Moreover, both Turkish giants are also playing in the Euroleague, where Efes is ranked number three and Fenerbahce number eight. Both teams have qualified for the Euroleague playoffs.

Efes has only suffered one loss so far in the Turkish basketball league. The last showdown between Fenerbache and Efes was in the Euroleague in February. Efes won that duel and thereby ended Fenerbahce’s ten-game winning streak in the Euroleague.
