Fenerbahce Cruises Passed Tofas To Win BSL Title

Fenerbahce Fenerbahce Istanbul destroyed Tofas Bursa 94-64 in Game 5 of the finals to claim the 2018 Turkish BSL Championship. This is the third straight Turkish League championship for Fenerbahce, reinforcing their dominance as Turkey’s top team. They may have lost the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to Real Madrid in the finals but this should help lift their spirits and end 2017-18 with glorious jubilation.

Tofas avoided a sweep by edging Fenerbahce 91-88 in Game 3 and the defending champs did not want this series to stretch to a Game 6 or 7. In front of a boisterous home crowd, they showed up to win and win they did. Fenerbahce played hard, got off to a strong start, and never looked back. From a 25-12 lead at the end of the first period, the men in yellow kept the momentum going and finished with a massive blowout.

Fenerbahce’s Ahmet Duverioglu ended the game one rebound shy of a double-double performance with 19 points on efficient shooting from the field and the line, with nine rebounds. Brad Wannamaker added 11 points for the victors. Tofas was simply outclassed and outmatched. Fenerbahce rained down 12 treys to destroy their guests and did not give an inch on the glass with a 36-28 rebounding advantage. Every Fenerbahce player who took to the floor managed to score. Unselfishness was the name of the game as they recorded 30 assists compared to 14 by Tofas. It was a clinic and fans were there to enjoy the ride and some fantastic hoops.

More success awaits the Turkish powerhouse in domestic and international leagues? Perhaps. They definitely have the budget, the tools, and the manpower to remain a force to be reckoned with come 2018-19.
