Fabricio Oberto signs with Atenas

Fabricio Oberto

Fabricio Oberto (207 cm) has decided to come out of retirement again and has signed on to play for Atenas de Córdoba (Argentina-Liga A). Oberto was forced to retire from the NBA in Nov. of 2010 while with the Portland Trail Blazers due to a cardiac condition. He had already played five seasons in the NBA at the time, four with the San Antonio Spurs, then one with the Washington Wizards. He started his professional career with Atenas de Córdoba in 1995 and played there for three seasons before moving to Greece and playing for Olympiakos. Oberto has also played for the Argentinian National Team in 1996-2004, 2006, 2008 2010-2012, which took him to three Olympic games in 1996 (Atlanta), 2004 (Athens) and 2008 (Beijing). In 2008 the Argentinian squad came away with a bronze medal.
