The first four games of Round 13 in Euroleague action were played out and there were more than a few interesting games that took place. For the most part, top teams managed to secure victories and maintain their stranglehold over the league leadership. In a twist of fates, bottom team, Unics Kazan was able claim it’s fourth win of the season, forming a three-way tie with other teams sporting a 4-9 record. They defeated Galatasaray, 73-60.
Real Madrid vs. Brose Baskets, 95-72
The Spanish powerhouse ran circles around their German guests. Sergio Llull was the top sharpshooter for Real Madrid in this outing, connecting on 4-of-8 shots from downtown. He also managed to get his teammates involved in the offense, recording six assists. Brose Baskets were outmatched in this one as Real Madrid topped them in almost every statistical category.
Real Madrid (9-4) are second in the league standings, trailing the dominant CSKA Moscow by three games. The loss drops Brose Baskets to 14th place in the standings with their 4-9 record.
Olympiacos vs. Crvena Zvezda, 73-65
While Crvena Zvezda may be dominating the ABA league, the Euroleague competition is a completely different story. They were dominated by the Greek Titans. Ognjen Kuzmic put up a laudable effort for Red Star with a double-double performance. He scored 13 points and hauled in 14 rebounds. Sadly, his hustle on the glass was not enough to offset Olympiacos’ stifling defense. Olympiacos’ Matt Lojeski paced the club with a game-high 18 points.
Anadolu Efes vs. Zalgiris, 71-84
This was a clash between a couple middle-of-the-pack teams. Zalgiris dominated in the paint as well as from long-range, paving the way for this much needed road win. This takes them to 5-8 and they rise in the league standings to claim the 11th spot. Anadolu Efes slides down to eighth place with their 6-7 record. Zalgiris’ balanced attack was enough to overcome a 18-point night by Anadolu’s Thomas Heurtel.
