EA7 Armani Rushes to 4-0 start in Serie A
Italian Serie A heavyweight, EA7 Armani is now 4-0 to open the 2016-17. They are the only team to avoid tasting the bitter pill of defeat thus far and are looking strong as Round 4 of the regular season. The Milanese franchise took to the road and faced off against Germani Basket Brescia. Krunoslav Simon caught fire from downtown (6-12) and led all EA7 Armani players with 26 points. The game itself was cut and dry, with Armani grabbing an early lead in the first quarter and did not look back. The loss drops Brescia to a 1-3 record and they slide down to 12th place in the Italian Serie A standings. The season is still young and an upset could just be around the corner. Four clubs are in the hunt for the league leadership with identical 3-1 slates. They are Pasta Reggia JuveCaserta, Dolomiti Energia Trento, Scandone Avellino, and Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia. All four teams found success in Round 4 action. The Flexx Pistoia could not keep a handle on the ball, leading to 16 turnovers and fell to JuveCaserta 74-65. JuveCaserta took advantage of the turnovers and flipped them for some easy baskets. Scandone Avellino utilized a strong third quarter to pull ahead and eventually come away with the win against VL Pesaro, 55-60. Joe Ragland paced Scandone Avellino with 21 points and five assists. Grissin Bon shared the ball almost flawlessly in their game against Umana Venezia. They notched 20 assists for the night, compared to just 10 of their visiting opponents. Ricardo Cervi’s 19 points and Pietro Aradori’s 18 points carried the team for the win in this one. Dolomiti Trento employed a balanced attack with six players hitting double figures in scoring. They also kept the rebounding advantage and the control over the glass was a key factor in the win over Betaland Capo d’Orlando, 85-76.
