Round 16 of the 2019-20 season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague kicked off on Thursday with five games. Real Madrid and Anadolu Efes each bagged wins against their respective opponents to stay tied for the league lead with a 13-3 record. FC Barcelona Lassa plays tonight against Olympiacos and will get a chance to keep it as a three-headed horse race.

One of the most interesting games of the night was an important one between two teams in the top-8. CSKA Moscow narrowly squeezed passed AX Armani Exchange Milan 78-75 in a thrilling nailbiter. The win, third straight for the Russian club, improved CSKA to 11-5 and they now sit in fifth place. Armani is now at the edge of the top-8, a precarious spot, with an even 8-8 record.

It was a special night for Daniel Hackett, who came away with a career-high 28 points, fueled by his 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Mike James was a dynamo on offense himself, chipping in 17 points and 11 assists.

Armani Milan was paced by Sergio Rodriguez and Arturas Gudaitis, who each chimed in with 13 points. Kaleb Treczewski was also effective with an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double.

CSKA has had Armani’s number for several years now, making this their ninth straight win. Armani is now pressured to come up with adjustments to get back to their winning ways, while CSKA continues to march on with their winning streak that’s steadily gaining steam in the EuroLeague.
