Carlos Cabezas released by Caja Laboral

Spanish point guard Carlos Cabezas (186 cm) has had his contract waived by Caja Laboral (Spain, ACB and Euroleague) after the team’s recent loss to Athens in the Euroleague. Caja coach Zan Tabak has been less than pleased about the team’s recent performances and decided to fine the entire roster. The team reacted badly to the fine and in the aftermath it was Cabezas who paid the price as Caja Laboral waived his contract.
Carlos Cabezas was on the fringes of the starting five having played 14 Euroleague games this season where he averaged just 4.9 points per game. The 32-year old is now out of contract and unable to join another Spanish team so must move abroad.
Dutch guard Devon Van Oostrum (190 cm) has been recalled from Caceres (Spain, LEB Gold) to Caja Laboral to replace Cabezas. Van Oostrum is a part of the Caja junior set-up and has been with Caceres this season where he played 19 games and averaged 9.3 points per game.
