The Brooklyn Nets won’t be at full strength when they begin their 2022-23 NBA season campaign on October 20. According to a report by ESPN’s Nick Friedell, the Nets will miss the services of Seth Curry and Joe Harris when they face Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday. Curry and Harris are surely part of the Nets’ rotation this season, so the team needs other players to step up in the two shooters’ absence.

Seth Curry, the younger brother of Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, was acquired by the Nets via a mid-season trade with the Philadelphia 76ers. Curry immediately provided a positive impact in Brooklyn, averaging 14.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in a starting role. The 6-foot-2 outside gunner also hit a spectacular 46.8% clip from three-point territory, establishing himself as a perfect fit alongside Nets stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

Speaking of excellent outside shooting, Joe Harris is certainly one of the best in the league. Harris only played 14 games last season, as he was hounded by ankle issues. Having averaged at least 41.9% from beyond the arc in the last five seasons, there’s no doubt that Harris can contribute a lot to this Brooklyn Nets team when he’s healthy. He may have some competition regarding his starting role though, with the team bringing over another 3-and-D player in Royce O’Neal during the offseason.

The Nets are in for a pressure-packed year, especially after going through a rocky offseason that saw Durant issue a trade demand. It’s fortunate that both sides agreed on staying put, but another championship-less year could spell the ultimate end of the KD-Kyrie era in Brooklyn.
