Ben Wallace heading to Panathinaikos?

At the end of last season the Detroit Pistons center said he was retiring, but in recent weeks he’s had second thoughts and wants to hit the hardwood for one more season. There’s no room for him in Detroit, but it’s being reported that Panathinaikos and Wallace, a free agent, are talking about 2012-13. Wallace is a 16-year veteran of the NBA, spending nine of those years in a Pistons uniform. During the peak years of his career, from the 2000-01 season through 2006-07, he average as high as 15.7 rebounds a game and 9.5 points per game.

I don’t know if THAT is why it wont happen. I can think of two additional reasons of why it won’t. Pana’s budget has gone down by so much that I wonder if they can even offer Big Ben the type of money to spark his interest. Secondly, and from the opposite side, I am not sure that Pana would offer a 38 year old who has never played in Europe that type of money even if they had it.
I suspect this report is the result of the ever so active rumor mill that is called “Greek press”.
