Baltic League Round 2 Action

Baltic League

14 teams took to the hardcourt last night to play out Round 2 of the 2014/15 Baltic League regular season. Fans from around the region were treated to some exciting basketball action as they came out to support their teams. Finnish team Pyrinto Tampere took care of business at home as they thwarted the visiting Latvian squad, Jurmala Fenikss. Pyrinto surged led off with a strong first quarter which provided them momentum to carry them for the game and prevail, 79-69.

Estonian powerhouse BC Kalev/Cramo Tallinn joins Pyrinto as the only two clubs with 2-0 records in the Group A standings. They held off BK Barons Kvartals Riga (Latvia), 90-71, in what was an impressive offensive display. The Barons would only match their stride in the second quarter, but were trailing in the other three periods and could not keep up with the Estonian club.

In Group B Panevezys Lietkabelis (Lithuania) are the current top dogs with their undefeated slate (2-0).  They carried on with their good start this season with a convincing 68-86 victory on the road over Tallinna Ulikool/Kalev (Estonia). This game was settled within the first 12 minutes, with Lietkabelis burying their hosts 14-31 in the first quarter. From there, Tallinna Kalev could not recover.
