Zalgiris Kaunas wins Lithuanian title

B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas beat Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius 83-65 to cap off a 4-0 sweep of the Finals series to win their third-straight Lithuanian league title.

American guard Oliver Lafayette (188 cm, Houston’07) led Zalgris with 18 points and seven assists. The game was pretty close for majority of its duration, but a 17-2 run spearheaded by Rimantas Kaukenas (192 cm, Seton Hall’00) gave Zalgiris the initiative to pull away and not look back. He finished the game with 15 points, while Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205 cm) added 16 to the winning effort.

Lietuvos Rytas was led by the production of Eimantas Bendzius (203 cm) who finished the game with 15 points. Teammate Mindaugas Katelynas chipped in 10 markers of his own.
